USTA Florida Partners with XGLOsive LLC to Introduce Ten15, a New, Fun Social Tournament Format

USTA Florida and XGLOsive LLC are teaming up again to bring Ten15, a new social style of tournament, to Florida.

USTA Florida will be hosting four unique Ten15 events this April as part of a month-long pilot series. Two events will be played on XGLOsive black-light courts, and two will be played during the day. All four events will benefit the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life.

“Tennis events have long been used to raise money for charitable causes,” said Laura Bowen, director of marketing for USTA Florida. “What makes Ten15 special is that we are supporting a cause and making tennis more accessible and fun. We’re excited to partner with both Ten15 and XGLOsive LLC on this pilot series.”

Born in Australia, Ten15 is not a typical tennis tournament. Music, fans and changes to the rules allow a wide range of players to participate.  Men and women play in a completely gender-neutral environment, and it works for both youth and adults. Matches are first to 10 points, and a total of 15 matches are played as a split round-robin on a single court. Umpires and ball kids keep things moving. The event finishes in just over two hours. Winners keep the prize money, and a matching donation is made to a cancer charity.

James Poso, founder of Ten15, says he chose Florida to pilot the events in the U.S. after reading about the XGLOsive LIGHTS OUT Tour last fall.

“After coming across an article #MakeTennisFun, I learned what was happening in Florida with the XGLOsive tour. I was keen to bring Ten15 over from Australia and work with people who are excited about innovative concepts,” Poso said.

XGLOsive Founder/Owner Jason Cordova says, “We had been looking for a competitive format that would work for XGLOsive for nearly a year. The time and number of courts needed for Ten15 make it a perfect fit for XGLOsive. The best part is that James has the same goal as we do: make tennis fun.”
