The Awards Committee updates and improves awards, recognition and processes for all USTA Florida Section Awards and the Volunteer of the Month program. The Awards Committee will also be involved in the selection process of the local award winners.

The Budget & Finance Committee, with the aid of the Executive Director and other staff members, prepares a proposed budget for the forthcoming fiscal year, and monitors the financial situation of the organization.

The Bylaws & Governance Committee interprets the USTA Florida Bylaws, reviews and prepares proposed amendments to be presented to the Board of Directors, Organization Members and Delegates.

Committee Chair Committee Member

The Grievance Committee is responsible for enforcing the USTA Florida Bylaws, all rules and regulations and the standards of conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship.

The Grievance Committee shall function as set forth in the Grievance procedures.

Grievance Procedures

The investment and audit committee’s role is to provide recommendations and oversight for the organization’s investment strategy, financial reporting, the monitoring of accounting policies, the oversight of any external auditors, regulatory compliance and the discussion of risk management policies with the Board and management.  The committee is responsible for working with the Treasurer, Controller and Executive Director to complete the audit each year on time and to update financial and investment policies.

The Leagues Committee develops, enhancespromotes and administers USTA League Tennis for eligible players.  The focus is on local competition with opportunities for championship play.

The Nominating Committee works to determine the composition of the USTA Florida Board of Directors by identifying, recruiting, and proposing Board members for the forth coming term. 

Nominations for the Nominating Committee shall be made from the floor at the Annual Meeting of the Membership in the even-numbered years.  For more details on the requirements for and how to serve on the nominating committee, please read the USTA Florida Bylaws

The Officials Committee oversees all sectional officiating duties regarding the recruitment and certification of all officials within Florida.

Committee Chair Committee Member

The Tennis Management Project Team provides guidance and support to the USTA Florida Tennis Management Division in its mission to promote and grow tennis and raise the standard of public tennis facilities throughout the State of Florida.   The Project Team works with the Director of Tennis Management to evaluate performance and guidelines for existing facilities.  The Project Team also is consulted on renewal of facility agreements and on potential opportunities to manage additional facilities. 

The Local Awards Project Team develops and/or updates the criteria, selection process, and recognition/communication for all USTA FL Local Awards and Recognition programs.

Committee Application Process

Committee Application Phase

During this phase, candidates interested in applying should: 

  • Review Committee Charge and Volunteer Position Description
  • Complete Online Application Form

The Application period is open April 11th through June 5th.

Committee Applicants Review/Interview Phase

  • Compile applications and share with Leadership for review/input
  • Interviews will be conducted 
  • Appointments will be finalized 
Applications for the Foundation Board will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
All other Committee applications will be reviewed in June.
 
Applicants may be contacted for interviews at any time through the month of July.

Committee Appointments Announced

In this phase we will announce the appointments for the various positions.

Committee and Foundation Board Announcements will be made in the months of June, July, August and September.

Committee Training

During this phase appointees will partake in training for:

  • Chairs/Staff Liaisons
  • Full Committee/Team Training 
Committee Trainings are generally held in the fall, at the discretion of the incoming committee chair. Applicant for the Budget and Finance Committee should expect to meet the weekend of October 8-9.
 
All applications should save the dates of Nov. 11-13 for the USTA Florida Annual Meeting.

Committee Terms Begin (January 1st)

Those candidates who have been selected and have completed the training will begin their term. 

Foundation Board members begin their term in November.

All USTA FL committees and project teams begin their terms January 1, 2023.

Board Application Phase (January 28th - March 6th)

During this phase, candidates interested in applying should:

Virtual Interviews Conducted (April 1st - April 31st)

  • Nominating Committee will review applications
  • Virtual interviews will be scheduled and conducted

In-Person Final Interviews

  • Nominating committee will select final candidates
  • In-person interviews will be conducted the first week of June

2023 - 2024 Board of Directors Slate Announced

  • In this phase the nominating committee will announce the board slate, and it will be posted on ustaflorida.com on July 1st.
  • Slate becomes final on July 27th.

 

Board Installation at the USTA FL Annual Meeting

The USTA FL Annual Meeting will be held in November. Additional details coming later.
