Committees
USTA Florida committees are comprised of dedicated volunteers who provide important direction for the organization’s work. From guiding our biggest programs, to ensuring financial oversight and stability, we need volunteers with diverse professional backgrounds to help us grow and serve our communities. Committees serve a two-year term and the time commitment and experience needed varies.

To recognize excellence and celebrate achievements across the tennis community by developing and administering awards programs aligned with USTA Florida’s strategic priorities, increasing engagement and visibility statewide.
The Budget & Finance Committee, with the aid of the Executive Director and other staff members, prepares a proposed budget for the forthcoming fiscal year, and monitors the financial situation of the organization.
The Bylaws & Governance Committee interprets the USTA Florida Bylaws, reviews and prepares proposed amendments to be presented to the Board of Directors, Organization Members and Delegates.
The Grievance Committee is responsible for enforcing the USTA Florida Bylaws, Grievance procedures, all rules and regulations and the standards of conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship.
The investment and audit committee’s role is to provide recommendations and oversight for the organization’s investment strategy, financial reporting, the monitoring of counting policies, the oversight of any external auditors, regulatory compliance and the discussion of risk management policies with the Board and management. The committee is responsible for working with the Treasurer, Controller and Executive Director to complete the audit each year on time and to update financial and investment policies.
The Leagues Committee develops, enhances, promotes and administers USTA League Tennis for eligible players. The focus is on local competition with opportunities for championship play.
The Officials Committee oversees all sectional officiating duties regarding the recruitment and certification of all officials within Florida.
The Parks and Rec committee’s role is to provide recommendations for growing tennis play at public tennis parks throughout the state of Florida. This committee also works closely with the Tennis Management Advisory Team to provide recommendations on the best ways USTA Florida can provide service and support to municipalities to provide tennis programs and play through the parks.

Our Committee and Project Team application process for the 2027 – 2028 Term will be open: April 24 – May 31, 2026.

Committee Application Phase (April 24 - May 31)
During this phase, candidates interested in applying should:
- Review Committee Charge
- Complete Online Application Form
Committee Applicants Review/Interview Phase (June - August)
- Compile applications and share with Leadership for review/input
- Applicants review Volunteer Position Descriptions
- Interviews will be conducted
- Appointments will be finalized
Committee Appointments Announced
In this phase we will announce the appointments for the various positions.
- June 30: Round 1 Committee Appointment Letters Sent (Budget & Finance, Investment & Audit, Grievance)
- July 31: Round 2 Committee Appointment Letters Sent (Bylaws and Officials)
- August 31: Round 3 Committee Appointment Letters Sent (Public Parks, Leagues, Awards)
Committee Training
Committee in-person training will be required for the following positions on January 16-17, 2027.
- Committee Chairpersons
- Board Liaison
- Staff Liaisons
- Applicant for the Budget and Finance Committee should expect to meet the first weekend in October 3-4, 2026.
- All appointed committee members are invited to the USTA Florida Tennis Summit hosted in November 2026.
Committee Terms Begin (January 1st)
Those candidates who have been selected and have completed the training will begin their term.
Project Teams
USTA Florida project teams provide a unique product, service or deliverable, and include a mix of both staff and volunteers. Projects are authorized by the President and Executive Director and can take a few months or up to two years, depending on the scope of the work.

Board of Directors
USTA Florida is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors with a wealth of experience, tremendous passion for sharing the love of tennis, and a big heart for helping people across the state of Florida.

Virtual Interviews Conducted (March 23rd - April 30th)
- Nominating Committee will review applications
- Virtual interviews will be scheduled and conducted
In-Person Final Interviews (June 6th - June 7th) Orlando
- Final Interviews for the USTA Florida Board of Directors will happen in person with the Nominating Committee between June 6th – June 7th in Orlando. Candidates must hold these dates and be available for interviews should they make it to the final round.
2027-2028 Term Board of Directors Slate Announced
- In this phase the nominating committee will announce the board slate, and it will be published on July 1st.
- Slate becomes final on Aug 18th.
Board Installation at the USTA Florida Annual Meeting
The 2027-2028 USTA Florida Board of Directors will be introduced at the Virtual Annual Meeting of the Membership on December 5th, 2026. Notification will be sent to all members in November.
