Second USTA Florida and UTR All-Girls Camp at University of North Florida

Women in Tennis General News Youth Tennis News

USTA Florida is thrilled to announce the eagerly anticipated second All-Girls Camp of 2023, taking place on August 5th in collaboration with Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) and the University of North Florida (UNF). Building on the success of the previous camps held at the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifier earlier this year and last year at UNF, this event aims to support USTA Florida’s Women in Tennis initiative, which strives to inspire, represent, and recruit girls and women in the sport.

This camp offers a unique opportunity for girls which will include instruction from an all-female coaching staff, an inspirational panel composed of various women sports professionals, level-specific coaching to provide each player the best experience possible, and match play that will count towards UTR Rating. Campers will walk away with much more than improved tennis skills.

For 2023, USTA Florida has committed to hosting four All-Girls camps in support of the ‘Inspire’ pillar of the Women in Tennis Initiative. The first camp of the year was hosted in conjunction with the Billie Jean King Cup Qualifier between USA and Austria at the Delray Beach Tennis Center in April. The camp had headliner appearances by Billie Jean King herself, USA Billie Jean King Cup Captain Kathy Rinaldi, top American player Jessica Pegula, and more.

The impact of the April All-Girls Camp was profound, as demonstrated by a parent who recognized its immeasurable value for her six-year-old daughter. Determined to seize the opportunity, she and her husband embarked on a nine-and-a-half-hour journey across the state. “I just knew this was the right thing for my daughter,” she expressed.

The organization is committed to making considerable strides in these Women in Tennis efforts. USTA Florida Immediate Past President, Dana Andrews in reference to the initiative stated, “We believe to our core that tennis is not only the best physical activity, but the best character-building activity. In a world of constant snapshots on social media which tends to make us compare, I believe we can make a positive difference in women’s and girls’ lives by working together and feeling secure to share our struggles and to be an encouragement to one another.”

The August camp held at the University of North Florida campus in Jacksonville will be catered to providing each player the best experience possible. The one-day camp schedule is outlined below:

  • 8:45 am: Arrive at facility and check-in
