Four professional players will compete for $5000 in prize money in a one-on-one doubles round-robin tournament at The Country Club of Winter Haven on Saturday, May 22.

Hosted by John Haggar, Tennis Director at the Country Club of Winter Haven, and former Harvard, Clemson and World TeamTennis Coach Ed Krass, the free admission event will kick off at 10:30 a.m., and conclude with an afterparty featuring live entertainment.

Formed by Krass in 2004, One-On-One Doubles is a crosscourt serve and volley singles game including the alley. Players are required to serve and volley on both serves or there is a loss of point. Half volleys are permitted. Players are awarded a two-point bonus for winning volleys and overheads, hit out of the air, the opponent cannot touch. Three no-ad sets will be played, round-robin style, to determine who plays in the Championship and third place matches.

The professional players competing are:

McClain Kessler – 2018 NCAA Doubles All-American from the University of Florida, who helped the Gators reach three top 10 national finishes and a Final Four in 2019. Kessler currently plays professionally on the ITF & ATP tour.

Michael Redlicki – 2016 ITA National Indoor Singles Champion while attending the University of Arkansas. Redlicki has ATP tour wins over top 60 ATP players including Tommy Paul, Jamie Duckworth and Tennys Sandgren.

Ryler Deheart – In 2010, Deheart was ranked as high as No. 120 on the ATP Tour. He won his first-round singles match at the 2008 US Open, defeating a top 60 ATP singles player. Deheart also helped his University of Illinois team win an NCAA Team National Championship.

Diego Ayala – In 2003, Ayala was ranked as high as No. 100 on the ATP Doubles Tour. He has registered pro event wins against top 20 ATP players Marcos Baghdatis and Stan Wawrinka, as well as a juniors win against Roger Federer at the 1997 Coffee Bowl.

“This is our third time hosting a One-On-One Doubles tournament event in Winter Haven,” stated Tennis Director John Haggar. “We are excited to bring such a high caliber of ATP level players to the Country Club of Winter Haven. The area tennis fans and our sponsors will surely be treated to superb serve-and-volley tennis rarely seen on television or anywhere.”

The One-On-One Doubles afterparty concert featuring TBone Hamilton & The Blues All-Stars will kick off at 3 p.m. after tennis play concludes. Food and drink will be available for purchase at the free admission event.
