For the 13th consecutive year a One-on-One Doubles Prize Money Tournament will be hosted during the annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Coaches Convention on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018 from 3:45-7 p.m. at the Naples Grande Resort in Naples, Fla.

The tournament is open to all convention registrants, includes men’s and women’s draws, and offers $1,000 prize money per draw. The event guarantees three matches in the short set, no-ad scoring format, with round-robin play leading to the single-elimination semifinals and final.

The entry fee is $30, and the entry deadline is Friday, Dec. 14.

One-On-One Doubles is the half-court serve-and-volley singles game played crosscourt with the alley included. The game enforces the serve-and-volley rule on both serves or there is a loss of point. Half volleys are allowed. Since the game’s inception, many top college tennis programs currently play One-On-One Doubles matches within their team practices.

Past tournament participants have included Grand Slam legends Johan Kriek, Emilio Sanchez, Luke Jensen, Jared Palmer, Mikael Pernfors and Roscoe Tanner.

Associate Head Men’s Tennis Coach at Florida State University and former US Open player Ryler DeHeart will be a participant at this year’s event.

“I am pumped for this event,” DeHeart says. “I love One-On-One Doubles! It’s an exciting fast-paced game that I always enjoy playing. I am looking forward to defending my title from a few years back at the convention.”

Another upcoming USTA Florida One-On-One Doubles Tournament will be the $2,000 Space Coast Shootout at the Suntree Country Club in Melbourne, Fla., on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2019.
