Florida USTA ‘Tennis on Campus’ 2016-17 Schedule Opens This Weekend
The 2016-17 USTA Florida ‘Tennis on Campus’ series of club tennis tournaments will feature eight events, concluding with the season-ending USTA Florida Section championships which will determine the Florida teams that advance to the USTA ‘Tennis on Campus’ National Championships.
The season kicks off this weekend with the UM Ibis Open, hosted by the University of Miami at Crandon Park, the home of the annual ATP/WTA Miami Open. At last season’s UM Ibis Open the University of Florida beat visiting Big Ten heavyweights Ohio State and Wisconsin before topping the University of Central Florida in the final.
Tennis on Campus is the college and university club program open to all schools, providing year-round recreational competition between non-NCAA club teams, and wrapping up each school season with the Florida championships and a chance to qualify for the USTA ‘Tennis on Campus’ National Championships.
