The USTA Florida Section is proud to be hosting events in conjunction with the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup, which will take place on April 14th and 15th. This prestigious international tennis tournament brings together the best women tennis players from around the world to compete for their countries.

This year’s event will be held in Delray Beach, Florida, at the Delray Beach Tennis Center and USTA Florida will be hosting some events throughout the weekend. First off, the next generation of female tennis players and leaders will be inspired at the second annual All-Girls Camp on April 14. Last year, over 30 girls were in attendance for a day of on and off the court activities.

Billie Jean King (left) is an icon and inspiration to all girls and women in tennis.

“The name Billie Jean King is synonymous with what one person can do to promote our sport and equality for all,” said former USTA Florida President, Dana Andrews. “USTA Florida made a commitment in 2021 to recruit and support more girls and women in all aspects of the Florida tennis ecosystem; through players, coaching, and expansion of our women speaker’s bureau,” she said. “In 2022 the kickoff event was an all-girls player and coaches’ tennis camp on the 50th anniversary of Title IX and we are honored to have as our first event for 2023 be an all-girls camp to coincide with the Billie Jean King Cup.”

There is an amazing team of all-women coaches lined up to lead these girls throughout their day. Additionally, many women industry leaders are expected to attend and talked to these girls, share their experiences in the sport, and answer any questions they may have.

USTA Florida will host its second all-girls camp.

In addition to the camp, USTA Florida is also hosting a Women’s Coaching Workshop on April 14 and April 15. This USTA Level 1 Coach Workshop is a two-day, in-person training that will focus on coaching principles and building skills needed to teach beginner to low intermediate level players of all ages.  Coaches who complete the workshop will have the opportunity to be certified as a Level 1 Coach with an accredited certification organization upon meeting additional membership/certification requirements.

On April 15, USTA Florida will host Family Day, for an hour of tennis activities such as mini-court doubles fun, and Queen & King of the Court. All participants will also receive tickets to the Billie Jean King Cup matches starting at 2 pm. Spots are limited with registration opens Wednesday March 8 and ends Friday April 14.

All of these events are happening jointly with the Team USA match in the Billie Jean King Cup tournament. The American women will take on Austria and are being led by Florida’s very own Coco Gauff. In her young career, Gauff has made quite the noise on the WTA Tour, reaching the French Open Finals last year and being a finalist for 2022 Player of the Year.

Coco Gauff will be leading the USA team at the Billie Jean King Cup in April.

The Billie Jean King Cup is a fantastic opportunity for USTA Florida to showcase the sport of tennis and promote its mission that tennis is for everyone.

USTA Florida is excited to welcome players, coaches, and fans from around the world to join in on any of the fun activities planned in conjunction with the 2023 Billie Jean King Cup. Overall, it’s set to be an exciting event for everyone involved.
