USTA Florida Brings Tennis to Military Families at Red Empire Week Celebration

General News

USTA Florida and the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center partnered to bring tennis to military families during the Red Empire Week Family Day event, held in support of the Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne).

The annual Red Empire Week celebration brings together Soldiers, families, veterans, and community members through family activities, community engagement opportunities, and events that honor the legacy and service of the 7th Special Forces Group. The Family Day event welcomed approximately 2,000 attendees from across the military community.

As part of the festivities, USTA Florida and the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center created an interactive tennis experience by setting up a portable net and inviting families to pick up a racquet and give the sport a try. The activity provided a fun and welcoming environment where participants how of all ages could learn the basics of tennis, many for the very first time.

Throughout the day, military families had the opportunity to rally, practice their hand eye coordination, and experience firsthand why tennis is a sport that can be enjoyed for a lifetime. The event created memorable moments for participants while introducing them to local tennis opportunities available within the community.

In addition to the on court activities, USTA Florida distributed promotional items, including pens, stress balls, and informational materials highlighting local tennis programs, resources, and opportunities available through the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center and the broader tennis community.

The event served as a meaningful opportunity to connect with military families, promote healthy and active lifestyles, and showcase tennis as a sport that brings people together. By introducing new players to the game and providing a positive first experience, USTA Florida and the Fort Walton Beach Tennis Center helped further the mission of growing tennis and making the sport accessible to all.

USTA Florida is grateful for the opportunity to support the Army’s 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne) and engage with the military community through this special event. The day highlighted the power of tennis to build connections, strengthen communities, and create lasting memories both on and off the court.
