USTA Florida Athletes Capture 10 Titles at 2025 NTRP National Championships
The 2025 NTRP National Championships wrapped up in April, with USTA Florida athletes making their mark across the country. From Orlando to Surprise to San Diego, players representing the Sunshine State brought home multiple national titles and runner-up finishes.
In the 18 & Over Singles division in Orlando, Florida men led the charge. Damaso Marcano and James Smith were crowned national champions in the 3.5 and 4.0 levels, while Rene Dipus, Danel Guerra, and Drae Centoze picked up finalist honors. On the women’s side, Denisse Bassan secured the 3.0 title.
Florida continued its strong run at the 40 & Over Singles event in Surprise, Arizona, with Christopher Springer and Pablo Gimenez winning titles. Wanderley Trevisan, Ekaterina Kuznetsova, and Monica Barkett earned finalist spots.
In 40 & Over Doubles, Elizabeth Mckillop and Maureen Ruiz clinched a championship, while Jose Mejia and Eli Panell finished as finalists.
At the 55 & Over Nationals in San Diego, Jason Fair and Eliana Bigai won their respective singles brackets, and the duo of Sonia Denoncourt and Wendy Dingwall took home the 4.0 Women’s Doubles title. “We are so excited to have won the National Championship 4.0 division double in San Diego this April,” they said. “What a great tournament, competitive and great athletes!
In Mixed 18 & Over play, Damaso Marcano teamed with Jean Krejci to win the 3.5 Mixed title, adding to his singles championship earlier in the month. “We’re incredibly proud and grateful to have won the 3.5 Mixed Doubles Title at the USTA NTRP National Championships in Phoenix, Arizona,” they said. “Beyond the wins, what made this experience truly special were the amazing people we met. The spirit of the tournament was so welcoming, and we connected with players who share the same passion and love for tennis that we do. We walked away not just with a trophy, but with new friendships and unforgettable memories”
