Florida High School Senior All-Star Tennis Tournament in April

FHSTCA logoThe Florida High School Tennis Coaches Association will present the 4th Florida High School Senior All-Star Tennis Tournament on April 25-26, 2015 at the Winter Park Tennis Center in Winter Park, Fla.

“Florida high school senior’s participating on a Florida High School Athletic Association 2014-15 tennis team will once again be awarded the opportunity to represent their region at the Florida All Star Tennis Tournament,” says organizer John Danise. “The tournament is on the weekend following the FHSAA State Championships.”

The event is supported by the Youth Tennis Foundation of Florida, the Florida Athletic Coaches Association, the FHSAA, TeamConnection, and Wilson Sporting Goods among others.

Three boys and three girls from each Florida region will compete against each other using the World TeamTennis format.

Wiregrass Ranch Wins DecoTurf H.S. Tennis Championship

decoturf logoWiregrass Ranch High School of Wesley Chapel, Fla., defeated Memphis University School 5-3 in the A Division final of the DecoTurf High School Tennis Championship on March 20-21 and 27-28 in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Posting wins in the final for Wiregrass Ranch were the team of Foresight Okungbowa/Alejandro Feliciano in doubles (MUS won two of the three doubles positions) and Agie Moreno, Okungbowa, Feliciano, Sebastian Castillo and Daniel Moreno in singles.

Wiregrass Ranch trailed 2-3 after the doubles and the No. 1 and No. 2 singles matches, but won at the Nos. 4-6 positions to seal the victory.

“We are 18-0 and have everyone back from our state championship team last year,” head coach Dave Wilson told The Chattanoogan.

En route to the final Wiregrass Ranch defeated Edmond Memorial (Ok.), St. Xavier (Ky.), and in the semifinals top-seeded and two-time defending DecoTurf champ Hinsdale Central (Ill.).

Other participating Florida teams in the A Division were Pensacola Catholic High School and Winter Park High School.

In the girls’ championship the previous weekend, Walton High School (Marietta, Ga.) defeated Pine Crest School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) 7-0 in the final.
