Family Tennis Festival in Clearwater This Weekend

Clearwater’s annual Family Tennis Festival will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex in Clearwater, Fla.

“Learn how to play tennis using the 10 and Under Tennis format, and get information and sign up for USTA Junior Team Tennis for all ages and ability levels,” says organizer Judy Foster of the Suncoast Tennis Foundation. “Summer tennis camp information and lessons will be provided. More experienced juniors will have tennis instruction and match play with local-area pros.”

“Player can play-test a huge selection of the newest tennis rackets by top leading manufacturers,” Foster says. “Players can also get free tennis lessons from the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex teaching professionals, along with local area professionals.”

Register by calling the Henry L. McMullen Tennis Complex at (727) 669-1919.

Plantation to Host Summer Military Tennis Camp

The annual Summer Military Tennis Camp, presented by the City of Plantation and the Broward County Veteran’s Council, will be held for five sessions this summer from June 12-Aug. 18 at the Frank Veltri Tennis Center in Plantation, Fla.

The camps serve children age 6-14 of active or deployed U.S. Armed Forces personnel living in Broward County to the free camp at Plantation Central Park and the tennis center. Tennis racquets are provided, and children are asked to bring a bag lunch and swim suit.

The Frank Veltri Tennis Center, the Plantation Community Tennis Corporation and the Broward County Veteran’s Council have been working together since Summer 2010 to provide free tennis camp scholarships to children with a parent or parents on active duty or who are currently deployed and reside in Broward County.

The five sessions fill up quickly, so early registration is encouraged.
