General News

Team USA is seeking Florida and U.S. players to participate in the annual International Blind Tennis Tournament, to be held on June 7-14, 2020 in Piancavallo, Italy.

The event is organized by the International Blind Tennis Association (IBTA) with the help of Associazione Nazionale Tennis per Ciechi Italia.

On the days of the tournament, players, coaches and companions can choose the time of their lunch, according to the matches schedule, and hotels are within walking distance. Courts will be available for practice and training, and each country delegation will have a guide for reference and assistance. Coaches and companions will not be called to arbitrate matches as the organization will instruct its own referees.

The tournament will take place at “Pallaghiaccio” and “Pallasport” in Piancavallo. All teams are recommended to arrive on June 7 before 5 p.m. for the opening ceremony.

“Sight classification will take place on June 8-9, and during the sight classification we will organize training sessions in order that all players can practice before the official tournament,” organizers said.

Official matches will be June 10-13, with the closing ceremonies on the 13th. Trophies will be presented for champions, runners-up and third place in divisions B1, B2, B3 and B4 for male and female, and Blind Tennis balls will be used.
