At the section championship the team competed in double-round robin competition against Polk County Beerman/Templeton and Duval County Eagle Harbor/Matulonis. The Leon and Polk county teams each finished with a 3-1 record at the tournament. Team Banka claimed the championship with 13 individual court wins.

Local League Champions Advance to Sectionals

Additional Tallahassee-area teams also concluded the summer Adult 40 & Over league season with a trip to the section championships.

In addition to Team Banka who captured the Men’s 3.0 title, rounding out the men’s contenders was 4.0 division winner Team Lewis, which finished the local season with a 5-3 record. At the section championships Team Lewis swept through the competition from Polk, Lee, Hillsborough and Alachua counties, finishing 4-0 in flight play. Team Lewis’ season came to an end in the semifinal match falling to the eventual section champions from Broward County.

On the women’s side, Team SigRist (3.0) and Team Warner (4.0) represented Leon County. Team SigRist was the local league winner finishing with an overall 7-1 record. The team faced tough competition from South Miami-Dade, Duval, Volusia and Hillsborough counties. Team Warner, also 7-1 in local league play, squared off against equally-tough competitors from Indian River, Martin, St. Lucie, Marion and Alachua counties. Both teams concluded their season in round-robin flight play.
