Sweetheart Mixed Doubles at Forestmeadows

The Tallahassee Tennis Association (TTA) held its annual Sweetheart Mixed Doubles Tournament on Feb. 14, 2016 at Forestmeadows. Fifty-four players participated in a round robin that consisted of a six-game set with no-ad scoring.

Everyone tallied up their total points for each round to determine the overall winner at the end of play. Everyone got to play five rounds with the exception of one division which had a bye and was only able to play four rounds.

Everyone seemed to love the new format because of the opportunity to play more. A dozen red roses was given to Lois Carrington, the lucky winner of the early registration drawing. Participants were treated to a sweetheart breakfast along with special valentines day treats.

The winners of the tournament include:
6.0 Division — Linda Huffman and Kevin Carr
7.0 Division — Kathy and David Maus
8.0 Division — Hope Suber and Dave Arciaga
8.5 Division — Susan Morton and Peter Jilek

A special thanks to Sue James, tournament director and president of the TTA, as well as TTA volunteers Wanda Peterson and Dennis Kelley, who made sure all of the participants had a great time. The money raised from the tournament goes to supporting tennis programs throughout Tallahassee.
