Tallahassee Tennis Blog: Inaugural Governor’s Cup USTA League Wraps Up

The Governor’s Cup State Employee League completed its inaugural season in Tallahassee on Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016, as Team FSU capturing the league championship with a 12-2 win-loss record.

Team FSU secured 31 individual-court wins while giving up only 11 losses. Team DEP / Public Defender’s Office finished second with a 10-4 team record (28 individual court wins).

Team FSU was comprised of employees from various departments including the College of Education, College of Arts and Sciences, Office of Distance Learning, College of Social Science and Public Policy, College of Human Sciences, College of Business, and other offices.

In all, 114 players from 26 different state government agencies competed in the league which was well received in the local tennis community. League Coordinator Bobby York plans to create a league advisory committee in order to provide more playing opportunities for state employees in 2017.
