Youth Tennis News

It’s not too early to mark your calendar for the 2018 USTA Kidz Day at the Delray Beach Open on Monday, Feb. 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Delray Beach Tennis Center.

“Since the kids are off for President’s Day, why not join us for a fun-filled day of kids tennis matches and activities,” says Janet Sprague, organizer for the East Coast Tennis Foundation, which is hosting the event at the Delray Beach Tennis Center on the opening day of ATP World Tour singles and doubles play. “Kidz Day matches are appropriate for beginner through advanced-intermediate players.”

Play is for ages 6-16, and will include red, orange, green-dot and yellow-ball courts.

Schedule:

8:30am — Gates open for RED Ball Matches only
9-10am — RED Ball Matches (ages 6-8)
10:15-11:45am — ORANGE Ball Matches (ages 7-10)
10:30am-12:30pm — Kidzone (face-painting, arts & crafts, sidewalk chalk, balloons)
12:15-1:45pm — GREEN Ball Matches (Ages 8+)
2-4pm — YELLOW Ball Matches (Ages 10+)

Entry fees are $10 per child participating in the USTA tennis activities (ages 12-under) only, $20 per child playing in the red/orange/green-ball matches, and $10 per adult.

Event tickets allow players/parents to also enter the stadium to watch any professional matches during the day session only. Pro match start times are 11 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.

“Come before your scheduled time or watch pro matches after you are finished,” Sprague says. “Tickets are day-only and not valid for the evening matches.”

Ticket pick-up and check-in will be out in front of the main gate at the East Coast Tennis Foundation Tournament table. No coolers, water bottles or backpacks are allowed inside the venue. Players may bring in their tennis racquet only. Drinks and food available for purchase inside venue.
