Preview: 2015 USTA Florida 18 & Over 3.0-5.0+ League Tennis Sectionals

Leagues_Championship SideblockLocal USTA League champions will descend on Sanlando Park and the Florida Tennis Center on Aug. 7-9 to determine who will represent the USTA Florida Section at USTA League Nationals when the 2015 USTA Florida Adult 18 & Over 3.0/5.0 League Sectional Championships is contested in Altamonte Springs and Daytona Beach.

Counties in the 3.0, 4.0 and 5.0+ men’s and women’s flights represent Alachua, Brevard, Broward, Clay, Collier, Duval, Escambia, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lee/Charlotte, Leon, Marion, Miami-Dade North, Miami-Dade South, Orange/Seminole, Palm Beach-North, Palm Beach-South, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, and Volusia.

Returning champions from last year in the field are Orange/Seminole counties (3.0 women), Volusia County (3.0 men), and Miami-Dade County-South (4.0 men).

The 5.0+ level allows up to two 5.5-rated players on a roster, where the players must compete in the No. 1 singles or No. 1 doubles positions. The NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) scale progresses from 2.5 (beginner) to 5.0 (advanced) for USTA Florida League championship events. The Florida 4.0 men’s and women’s champions will advance to the 2015 USTA League Adult 18 & Over 4.0 National Championships on Oct. 2-4 in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

The Florida 5.0+ men’s and women’s champions will advance to the 2015 USTA League Adult 18 & Over 5.0+ National Championships on Oct. 2-4 in Indian Wells, Calif.
