Palm Beach County’s Dannika Horace named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month

Volunteer Of The Month Community Tennis News Volunteer Aces Faces of Florida Tennis

Tennis is one of the most diverse sports in the world. No matter your culture, skill set, or age, tennis is for everyone. For USTA Florida September Volunteer of the Month, Dannika Horace, being a high school student hasn’t stopped her from volunteering time to grassroots tennis.

Dannika started playing tennis when she was 10 years old, and after taking one lesson, she fell in love with everything the sport has to offer. While she has been bettering her playing career, Dannika wanted to give back to her community, so she looked into volunteering and has been doing so for over a year.

Dannika has been a wonderful volunteer, while also being a high school student.

She is part of her high school’s mock trial team, where Dannika has gone above and beyond, even earning the award for outstanding member. “I like to volunteer in tennis because it gives me an opportunity to give back to my community and ensure that everyone has wonderful experiences tied to the sport,” she said.

Outside of school, her volunteer life continues. She is a tennis coach at Quail Ridge Tennis Center in Boynton Beach. Dannika works with many different youth players, helping them develop different aspects of their game to prepare them for the next level.

She also assists with Palm Beach County’s Junior Team Tennis (JTT) league, which has over 160 kids playing tennis. “Her help is invaluable to every event running smoothly and efficiently,” one of her peers said. “Dannika’s interest in growing the sport of tennis by helping youth tennis players in Palm Beach is unconditional.”

She has accomplished just as much on the tennis court as she has in the classroom.

When Dannika isn’t playing tennis, she is soaring to new heights in the classroom. She is part of her school’s National Honors and National English Societies. Dannika is also the Vice President of the school’s law academy and has been an ambassador of the program for the past two years. Now, she is set to serve on the Jared Moskowitz Congressional Youth Cabinet for this school year.

As USTA Florida’s September Volunteer of the Month, the organization thanks Dannika as she is a great role model for everyone, showcasing that it doesn’t matter how old you are, all you need is a heart for service.
