Adult Tennis News

Former ATP player and University of Florida star Greg Ouellette defeated Hendrik Bode 11-5 in the championship match of the ITA Coaches One-On-One Doubles Prize Money Championships on Dec. 10, 2016 at the Naples Grande Resort in Naples, Fla.

It was revenge for Ouelette, the assistant men’s tennis coach at Boise State University, after losing in last year’s final to Bode, who is the head men’s coach at Hawaii Pacific University.

In the semifinals Bode beat Wichita State coach Danny Bryan 11-8, while Ouellette edged Appalachian State University coach Blake Mosley 11-10.

One-On-One Doubles Tournaments, called “the third game of tennis” next to traditional singles and doubles, and sanctioned by USTA Florida, features two players rallying cross-court only, emphasizing serve-and-volley play with short-set, no-ad scoring.

Upcoming One-on-One Doubles tournaments include the $2,000 Space Coast One-On-One Doubles Shootout at Suntree Tennis Club in Melbourne, Fla., on Feb. 25.
