One-Day Junior Tiebreak Tennis Tournament on Sept. 17 in Naples

A Junior Tiebreak Tournament will be hosted by The Sports Club at Mediterra in Naples, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, featuring boys’ and girls’ age 12-18 divisions.

“This will be out first-ever Junior Tiebreak Tournament at Mediterra,” said Director of Tennis Michael Baldwin. “Juniors can play a tournament in half a day rather than an entire weekend.”

Each match will be best-of-three match tiebreaks (first to 10 points). Draws and starting times will be posted online Friday, Sept. 16, and entries will close on Sept. 14 at 7 p.m.

“We have seen how much fun these shorter, alternative format events are for adults, and now the USTA is excited to try it for the juniors,” Baldwin said. “We all know how important tiebreaks are. Every point is a big point. How will you handle the pressure?”

Main draw and consolation draw play will guarantee players at least two matches, with awards for the top finishers.
