Nominations Open for the 2022 USTA Florida Section Awards

Annual Awards General News

USTA Florida is now accepting nominations for the 2022 USTA Florida Section Awards. Section Awards are determined by the USTA Florida Awards Committee and given on the even year. The nomination period will close on June 17, 2022. Nominations are currently being accepted for the following awards:

HALL OF FAME AWARD

This award recognizes our members, players and non-members, whose contributions to USTA Florida and achievements for many years are worthy of the highest recognition in one of two categories:  Administrative or Player. Current USTA Florida Board members are not eligible.

  • Administrative: The candidate has an extensive list of contributions and accomplishments while residing in Florida and representing USTA Florida. These accomplishments were achieved in volunteer work at the local, state, and/or national level.
  • Player: The candidate has an extensive list of playing accomplishments while residing in and representing Florida. These accomplishments were achieved in junior and/or adult tennis.

Previous winners in this category include Chris Evert and Frank Froehling III (1981), Bobby Curtis (1994), B.A. Grubbs (1996), Trish Faulkner (2007), Nick Bollettieri (2018).

MERIT AWARD

This award recognizes a person who, through his/her efforts, willingness, cooperation, and participation, is most deserving of the respect and honor of all volunteers. Over time, their contributions to amateur tennis in Florida, either in play or organizational work, have made a significant impact.

OUTSTANDING SECTION VOLUNTEER

This award recognizes a USTA Florida volunteer most deserving for his/her contributions to tennis in Florida impacting more than the local community. This person demonstrates leadership skills, shows devotion to the game, and serves as an inspiration to others. Current USTA Florida Board members are not eligible.

MEMBER ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR

This award recognizes a current USTA Florida member organization that best exemplifies service to the community, service to its members through junior and adult programs, and service to the game of tennis.

  • Outstanding Diversity Achievement
  • Exceptional Tennis Program Volunteer

All nominations must be submitted via the official nomination form. All nominations are due no later than Friday, June 17. No nominations will be accepted after this date. At the closure of the nomination period, the USTA Florida Awards Committee will review, evaluate and select the winners. Winners will be notified no later than August 30. Awards will be presented in November at the USTA Florida Annual Meeting.
