Miami-Dade County’s Nina Lindsey named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month
USTA Florida is proud to spotlight Nina Lindsey as the April Volunteer of the Month! Based at the Dante Fascell Tennis Center in South Miami, Nina is not only a fierce competitor but also a passionate and devoted volunteer who has made a lasting impact on the South Florida tennis community.
As a team captain and grievance assistant, Nina has led with both heart and hustle. Over the years, she’s captained a variety of teams including Mixed Doubles, Adult, and Combo. Her leadership has taken her 8.5 Over 50 Women’s team to the USTA Florida Sectional Championships for the past three years. In 2022, her team claimed the title, and twice they finished as Sectional Finalists.
When she’s not on the court, Nina is in the classroom, educating young minds with the same dedication and spirit she brings to tennis.
“My passion for competition and building camaraderie keeps me engaged as a volunteer,” she said. “I am dedicated to growing the game in our region and recognize the need for volunteers who share that same enthusiasm.”
Nina’s favorite tennis memory is winning her first State Sectionals as a Mixed Doubles captain, a moment that truly illustrates her drive and team-first attitude.
Her teammates speak volumes about her leadership. “Nina has created something more meaningful, a true community of diverse players who respect one another. She has taught us the importance of putting our egos aside and working together for the greater good of the team. Her example of selflessness and fairness in her leadership is a rare and priceless gift,” her peers said.
USTA Florida congratulates and thanks Nina for her dedication and time. Her contributions to the South Florida tennis community continues to inspire those around her.
