Gauff, Shelton Lead Sunshine State’s Star-Studded Lineup at the 2026 French Open

As the clay-court season comes to an end, a talented group of USTA Florida athletes is set to compete at the 2026 French Open. Roland Garros, one of the most prestigious stages in all of tennis, will once again feature a strong Sunshine State lineup across the draws. 

Leading the way on the women’s side is Coco Gauff, who continues to cement her status as one of the best players in the world. The Delray Beach product brings Grand Slam championship experience and enters as the reigning champ on the famous red clay. 

Amanda Anisimova enters the French Open riding one of the best stretches of her career. After reaching back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2025, the Florida resident has continued to climb the rankings in 2026, reaching as high as world No. 3. 

Fort Lauderdale’s Akasha Urhobo will make her Grand Slam main draw debut after earning a wildcard through the USTA’s Roland Garros Wild Card Challenge. The 19-year-old has put together an impressive 2026 campaign and will look to make a run in her first Grand Slam main draw appearance.  

Two former Grand Slam Champions round out the field for the Florida women in the singles draw. Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin enters with her eyes on the prize, the former champ will look to add another title to her resume. Joining her from the Qualifying Draw is Sloane Stephens, the 2017 US Open champion and 2018 French Open finalist, brings a wealth of Grand Slam experience as she looks to continue her fight at Roland Garros.

On the men’s side, Ben Shelton has established himself as one of the most dynamic players on the ATP Tour. He will look to capture his first Grand Slam titles of his young career. 

Another Florida standout, Reilly Opelka, rounds out the Florida men’s singles lineup, giving the Sunshine State three dangerous competitors in the draw. 

Florida will also be well represented in the doubles draws. Austin Krajicek, the Tampa native, former world No. 1, and 2023 French Open doubles champion, returns to the clay courts. Christian Harrison, who moved to Florida when he was 14 to train at IMG Academy in Bradenton, enters Roland Garros as the reigning Australian Open doubles champion with partner Neal Skupski. 

On the women’s side, Nicole Melichar-Martinez, a Wimbledon mixed doubles champion with 19 WTA doubles titles, will look to capture her first Grand Slam in the Women’s competition. 

The 2026 French Open promises many exciting moments as USTA Florida athletes showcase their talent at Roland Garros. With a mix of Grand Slam champions, rising stars, and fierce competitors across singles and doubles, Florida’s representatives are ready to shine on the red clay of the French Open.
