Gainesville Pro Tennis Women’s Pre-qualifier in Feb.

The Gainesville Tennis Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit Women’s $10,000 event, will host a pre-qualifying wildcard tournament the weekend of Feb. 21-22, 2015 at the Jonesville Tennis Center in Gainesville.

“This is a great way for juniors to get quality practice matches, as well as have an opportunity to earn a main draw or qualifying wildcard in singles, or a main draw doubles wildcard in the Gainesville Tennis Classic,” says Tournament Director Dave Porter.

The singles pre-qualifying winner will receive a main draw wildcard, while the second- and third place finishers will receive wildcards into the qualifying tournament the weekend prior to the Gainesville Tennis Classic.

The 4th annual Gainesville Tennis Classic, a USTA Pro Circuit event presented by Florida Credit Union, will be held March 8-15, 2015, featuring more than 90 young women trying to pursue their dreams of playing WTA tour-professional tennis.

Tournament kick-off events at the Jonesville Tennis Center will include a free Community Tennis Carnival on Saturday, March 7; a Pro-Am event on Monday, March 9; a Round Robin Doubles event on Friday, March 13; and a Silent Auction throughout the week.

The event is also seeking volunteers, sponsors, and in-kind contributions that go towards the JTC’s mission of helping the community through tennis. JTC grants more than $5,000 in need-based scholarships yearly as well as supports various other charitable organizations throughout the year.
