Fred Farzanegan (Tampa), King Van Nostrand (Vero Beach), Carol Clay (Fort Lauderdale), Ria Graham (New Port Richey), Jane Lutz (Sarasota) and Rose Austin (Naples) are all in Turkey competing in the ITF Super Senior World Team Championships. They are representing the USA in this prestigious event.
Today was a busy one. Team photos were taken at 8am; captains’ meetings started at 11 am and finished at 2:30 pm and the opening ceremonies were held.
The draws were done as well as the seeding at the captains’ meetings. Ten teams are competing here; Floridians are on five of them. All the draws can be found here.
Monday through Wednesday teams play round robins, similar to the format used in World Cup soccer. After the round robin play is concluded, the knockout portion of the competition begins. The group each USA team is in is listed below. That’s where you will find results from the first three days of play. The top seed in a group of 3 players will not play till Tuesday.

Van Nostrand is a member of the Gardnar Mulloy Cup team. The USA is seeded #1 and has a very strong team. King is the top player on this team. You can find the draws here: Gardnar Mulloy Cup (M80) (USA in Group A )

Austin and Lutz are members of the bad luck bears team, the Doris Hart Cup. The USA is seeded #3, but was weakened considerably when their #1 player Mary John Lynch of Texas injured her hand in a freak accident on the way to Turkey.
