Florida’s Vickery, Mmoh Among Miami Open Wildcards

miami_open_itau_free_medium-webThe Miami Open announced its main draw and qualifying wildcard entries for the 2015 tournament, to be held at Crandon Park Tennis Center in Key Biscayne, Fla., on March 23-April 5.

Among the women’s wildcards are Florida’s Sachia Vickery (qualifying wildcard), 2014 US Open breakout player and former world junior No. 1 Cici Bellis (main draw), Olympic silver medalist Laura Robson (qualifying), and former Top 10-ranked Nicole Vaidisova (main draw).

The women’s main draw will begin Tuesday, March 24, while the men’s main draw kicks off on Wednesday, March 25. Qualifying rounds for both the women and men start on Monday, March 23.

Vickery, of Hollywood, Fla., was the 2014 USTA national junior champion, and advancing to the second round of the 2013 US Open. This year she has won two singles titles on the USTA Pro Circuit.

Other women’s qualifying wildcards went to Oceane Dodin (France), Fanny Stollar (Hungary), Ipek Soylu (Turkey), and Arantxa Rus (Netherlands). The remaining main draw wildcards went to Indy de Vroome (Netherlands), Sorana Cirstea (Romania), Natalia Vikhlyantseva (Russia), and Paula Badosa (Spain).

Receiving men’s main draw wildcards were Andrey Rubley (Russia), Hyeon Chung (Korea), Ryan Harrison (Boca Raton, Fla./Austin, Tx.) and Kyle Edmund (Britain).

Michael Mmoh (Bradenton, Fla.) is among the men’s qualifying wildcards along with Gianluigi Quinzi (Italy), Omar Jasika (Australia), Taro Daniel (Japan) and Elias Ymer (Sweden).

The two-week combined event is one of nine ATP Masters 1000 Series events on the ATP calendar, and a Premier Mandatory event on the WTA calendar.
