Social League Play Taking Off in Indian River/Martin/St. Lucie Counties

Social league play has been well accepted here in the Indian River/Martin/St. Lucie counties area — social singles, social doubles, and especially the monthly Social Round Robin at the Lawnwood Tennis Complex in Ft. Pierce.

We are averaging twenty players at these round robins, welcoming all ages 18+ and all skill levels. We are utilizing the FAST4 format where each player serves once to keep things moving along. After the four games are played, the number of games won are reported and they are sent back out to the courts with three different players.

We have 6-7 rounds, with the last round being a full set. The top male and female player with the highest number of total games won for the event receives a USTA prize. The next events are scheduled for Saturdays on April 28 and May 26.

New North Palm Beach Social League; Palm Beach Garden Working Women

Beginning in May a Social League for women at the 3.5/4.0 levels will begin in North Palm Beach featuring one position of singles and three lines of doubles per team.

The new social league is available to ladies 18 years and older. League play will be offered on Wednesday mornings.

I also want to mention that the Social Sunday Working Women’s League playing currently is having a great time. This league is currently a doubles league with eight teams of two ladies at the 3.0/3.5 skill level. All the matches are being played at the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center on Sundays at 12:30 p.m.

A great big “Thank you” to the Palm Beach Gardens Tennis Center for making this possible. This league will finish at the end of May and plans are already being made to offer the league for summer play.

Individuals interested in either league can e-mail ageebradshaw@ustaflorida.com or go to www.ustaflorida.com/JessicaAgeeBradshaw.
