New for 2019, Florida will host both spring and fall qualifiers in the 18s and 50s divisions for the USTA NTRP National Championships to be held in 2020.

“The winner of each event gains an automatic spot in the National NTRP Championships in 2020,” says USTA Florida Player Development Coordinator Andy Gladstone. “Each USTA Section receives a certain amount of spots in the National NTRP Championships based on adult membership. Florida receives two spots in the National NTRP Championships in 2020.”

The events offer the following men’s and women’s singles and doubles divisions:

18 & Over — NTRP 3.0-5.0, and mixed 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0
50 & Over — NTRP 3.0-4.5

Qualifying events:

April 27-29 — 50 & Over Spring NTRP Qualifier
Jonesville Tennis Center, Gainesville

June 1-3 — 18 & Over Spring NTRP Qualifier
Lake Cane Tennis Center, Orlando

Oct. 25-28 — 18 & Over Fall NTRP Qualifier
Woodfield Country Club, Boca Raton

Dec. 7-9, 2019 — 50 & Over Fall NTRP Qualifier

Mixed divisions are not offered at the NTRP National Championships and the 5.0 level is only offered in the 18 & Over age group. All matches in the Florida main draws and consolation will play a super-tiebreaker in lieu of a third set.

Players must have a 2018 computer-generated NTRP rating to participate, and self-rated players are not eligible to participate.

The dates and locations of the National Championships for 2020 have not been established yet.
