Spring is right around the corner, and USTA Florida is preparing for the upcoming spring 2020 season of Junior Team Tennis. 10 Local Youth Play Coordinators will serve 17 counties throughout the state, with most programs starting in mid-to-late February and running through mid-to-late May.

“Junior Team Tennis is a great opportunity for players to meet new people, get a lot of match play, and have fun,” says USTA Florida Junior Team Tennis Coordinator Liz Coates. “Players will learn about unity, sportsmanship, and how to work together to achieve success on the court.”

Leagues are currently available in the following areas:

Established in 1991, USTA Junior Team Tennis provides youth ages 6-18 with all of the health and social benefits of tennis in a coed, fun and competitive team environment — all while allowing participants to compete with and against individuals of similar ages and skill levels. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skill levels are all covered — with divisions from 8-and-under up to 18-and-under.

USTA Junior Team Tennis brings kids together in teams to play singles, doubles and mixed doubles against other beginner, intermediate or advanced teams. The programs promote social skills and important values, as well as foster cooperation, team play, and individual self-growth. JTT provides kids with a fun environment in which they learn that succeeding isn’t just about winning — it’s about how they play the game and respond to challenges.

All teams and/or players who play in a USTA Florida Junior Team Tennis program are eligible to enter the USTA Florida State Championship, to be held May 30-31, 2020, at Daytona Beach’s Florida Tennis Center.
