The United States Tennis Association-Florida Section (USTA Florida) and XGLOsive are teaming up for the Lights Out Tour, a series of 10 black light tennis city stops open to all players and families in January-March 2016.

The tour will kick off with two events in Jacksonville, at the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation Tennis Center on Friday, Jan. 29 from 7-9 p.m., and at the Southside Tennis Complex on Saturday, Jan. 30 from 6-9 p.m. The event at the MaliVai Washington Tennis Center, which will include participation from the former Wimbledon runner-up, will be a fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation.

XGLOsive net shotChildren and adults will be provided with glow-in-the-dark t-shirts, and will be encouraged to wear white or pastel-glow-colored shoes, clothing, wristbands or other accessories. The events will feature music and fast-paced fun on both regular and 36-foot kid-sized courts.

“XGLOsive brings you the mix of tennis and a party,” says Jason Cordova, founder of XGLOsive LLC. “Just seeing an amazed look on everyone’s face when they walked onto our blacklight court with our hip hop club music playing, it motivated me even more to take this to another level with the Lights Out Tour.”

Following the Jacksonville weekend in January, the Lights Out Tour will make stops in Orlando, Miami, Stuart, Palm Beach, Melbourne, Clearwater, Ocala, Tallahassee and Pensacola.

“These events are ideal for all levels and ages of players to break away from conventional play and enjoy a socially, competitive and fun play in the black-light environment,” says USTA Florida Director of Marketing & Membership Laura Bowen. “This will provide facilities across the state with a unique tennis experience to help build tennis programs and generate revenue.”
