Finals Set at 2016 USTA Florida Jr. State Singles Championships

It was Survivor Day on Tuesday, June 14 at the 68th USTA Florida “Bobby Curtis” Junior State Singles Championships as the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds were played to determine the Wednesday finalists in each division at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach (18-16s divisions) and at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs (14-12s divisions).

Top seeds advanced to only three of eight finals: No. 1 Alana Wolfberg of Orlando in the Girls 16s, No. 1 Jack Anthrop of Orlando to the Boys’ 12s, and No. 1 Ariel Johnson of Coconut Creek in the Girls’ 12s.

The top-rated final will see the No. 1 Wolfberg face No. 3 Imani Graham of St. Johns in the Girls’ 16s final, while the most disparate championship match will see unseeded Jason Legall of Palm Coast meet No. 8 Aleksandar Kovacevic of Boca Raton in the Boys’ 18s finale.

Graham will be attempting her second state singles title after winning the Girls’ 12s title in 2014. St. Augustine’s Alexander Adamec will be gunning for his second state singles title in the Boys’ 12s final after claiming the Boys’ 10s title in 2014.
