For tennis families in South Miami, a tennis bash has never been this big.

The #SummerofNetGeneration BIG BASH, a free family tennis festival, will be held at Coral Reef Park in Palmetto Bay, Fla., on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2018 from 5-7 p.m. The family festival will be followed at 7:30-10 p.m. with XGLOsive blacklight tennis featuring glow-in-the-dark adult and junior play.

A bounce house, face painting, photo booth, food, music, tennis and game courts will entertain kids of all ages, with families encouraged to take to the courts together.

“Truth N Tennis Academe” at Coral Reef Park was the winner of the #SummerofNetGeneration contest’s BIG BASH, the concluding event of the #SummerofNetGeneration series of events for summer tennis camps registered with USTA’s Net Generation.

“The husband-wife team of Truth N Tennis Academe teaching pros Kara Borromeo and Lee Pettis won the USTA Florida Exceptional Youth Tennis Provider Award this year, and run wonderful youth programs at Coral Reef following the USTA’s Youth Progression format,” says USTA Florida Miami-area Tennis Service Representative Cathy Nordlund. “Parents need to come out and see their great programs. They and their 18-and-under ‘Miami Chihuahuas’ team will also be representing Florida at the USTA Junior Team Tennis National Championships.”

ASA College varsity tennis men’s and women’s team member will also be assisting with the event and hitting balls with participants.

Following the family festival, the XGLOsive blacklight tennis event, for ages 8 and up from 7:30-10 p.m., will be $10 per participant per session (three 45-minute sessions will be offered).

“XGLOsive is fun for people of all ages and ability levels, and once people play an event they always ask when the next one is,” says USTA Florida Executive Director Laura Bowen. “We encourage you to bring friends, even if they have never played before. Space is limited, so register today.”

Coral Reef Park is located at 7895 SW 152nd St. in Palmetto Bay, Fla.

The family tennis festival is free, but participants must register online at bigbashcoralreef.eventbrite.com. For additional info contact Cathy Nordlund at nordlund@ustaflorida.com or (407) 955-4890.
