Duval County Dominates Multiples Draws at Adult 55 & Over 6.0/8.0 Sectional Championships

Adult Leagues Adult Tennis News

Through the lightning and rain, the USTA National Campus played the roles of shelter and host for the Adult 55 and Over 6.0/8.0 Sectional Championships. Despite the unpredictable weather, it turned out to be an exciting weekend of tennis competition.

Adult 55 & Over follows a Doubles format, where each pair adds their rating together to equal the rating at which they are playing.

One county in particular had an incredible outing at the event. Duval County had a team participating in each of the three divisions in action and two of them came out on top.

In the Women’s 6.0 draw, Duval County’s team from Deercreek County Club played great all weekend long. In pool play, they went 3-1 with their sole loss coming against Hillsborough County. However, in the semifinals, they were able to avenge their loss and take them down in a sweep. The championship was a close match, but ultimately Duval was able to win the Women’s 6.0 draw.

Duval’s other team, from Kraft Tennis Club in the Men’s 8.0, put on a show, going undefeated across the entire weekend. They played in five matches and won all of them. They only dropped three lines across course of the competition as well.

The Women’s 8.0 draw was also filled with competitive matches, but in the end, it was the team from HCC Tennis Complex representing Hillsborough County that came out on top. Hillsborough played in five matches, going 3-0 in their opening flight and securing a spot in the semifinals. They swept that against Collier County and then beat Pinellas County in the Championship. The team only dropped two lines across the weekend.
