Day 4 Results — Finals Set at the 2015 USTA Florida Jr. State Chps.

Bobby Curtis Junior State Championships

2015 Jr State Champs_In ArticleOnly two top seeds reached finals in eight age brackets at the 2015 USTA Florida “Bobby Curtis” Junior State Championships, setting up a slew of possible underdog winners during the Wednesday finals at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach and area sites.

Two underdogs reached the Boys’ 18s final when No. 14 seed Alexander Knight of Miami Shores, who returned to the “Bobby Curtis” from the University of Michigan where he is a freshman on the varsity team, upset No. 7 seed Pietro Rimondini of Boca Raton to reach the final. He will face No. 15 Davey Roberts of Palm Coast, who in the semifinals upset No. 3 seed Alfredo Perez of Coral Gables.

An unseeded player reached the Girls’ 18s final when Shene Disbergen of Fort Lauderdale upset No. 12 Adriana Reami of Miami in the quarterfinals, and then defeated unseeded Kate Paulus of Boca Raton in the semis. In the final she will meet No. 1 seed Mia Horvit of Palm City.

The Boys’ 16s semifinals saw two upsets as No. 5 Michael Heller of Weston moved past No. 4 Evan Bynoe of Parkland, and unseeded James Ignatowich of Wellington ousted No. 7 Antoine Sanchez of Sarasota.

Two upsets also occurred in the Girls’ 16s semifinals as No. 3 Victoria Emma of Naples topped No. 2 Alana Wolfberg of Orlando, and unseeded Whitney Osuigwe of Bradenton, last year’s Girls’ 14s runner-up, ousted No. 4 Margaret Owensby of Boca Raton.
