Leslie Herrion

Local Youth Play Coordinator

Departments: Youth Tennis

Programs Served: Youth Tennis

Counties: Hillsborough, Pinellas

Born and raised in a sports-oriented family in the Tidewater area of Virginia, Leslie has
loved tennis from a very young age and really immersed herself into playing the sport as
an adult. Her son caught the tennis bug shortly thereafter and has been playing and
participating in USTA Junior Tournaments for several years.

Having been an NCAA Division I Assistant Athletic Director at The Citadel and most
recently the Director of Events for Gigi Fernandez Tennis and the Director of Operations
for a tennis academy in the Tampa area, Leslie brings to us extensive experience in
both management and athletics. She holds a Masters Degree from The University of
Virginia in Exercise Physiology/Strength Training and Conditioning, and is a former
nationally certified Strength and Conditioning Coach and Fitness Trainer with a passion
for tennis. While at UVA, as an undergrad she served as the Head Manager for the
Men’s Basketball Team, and as a graduate student served as a Strength Coach for
Women’s Tennis, as well as Volleyball, Football and Basketball. She is a PTR certified
tennis teaching professional and a USTA Certified Official and Referee who especially
loves assisting beginners and young players with the rules and learning how to compete
with good sportsmanship.

A true people person, Leslie takes great pride in building relationships and assisting
parents and juniors with their tennis goals. Her joy comes from helping junior players
learn and love tennis while having fun!

When Leslie isn’t on the court, she enjoys being a Rafael Nadal fanatic, watching her
son play tennis, and cheering on our Tampa Bay Area professional sports teams
