Celebrating Women’s History Month: All-Girls Camps

Women in Tennis Community Tennis News

In celebration of Women’s History Month, USTA Florida recently hosted a series of All-Girls Tennis Camps designed to empower young female athletes. Held at three locations across Florida, the camps showcased the power of girls and women in sport. These were hosted at USTA Florida managed Riverside Racquet Complex and Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach, as well as the well-known Palm Beach Gardens Tennis and Pickleball Center.

The camps aimed to create a space where young girls could thrive both on and off the court. By focusing on skill development, teamwork, and mental toughness, the camps provided valuable lessons that extended far beyond tennis. Each session combined fundamental drills with engaging activities designed to encourage leadership, communication, and sportsmanship.

The camps featured experienced female coaches who shared their expertise and personal tennis journeys, offering inspiration to participants. Girls had the opportunity to connect with coaches and mentors, learning about the challenges and triumphs that women have faced in the sport. The coaches emphasized the importance of perseverance, resilience, and supporting one another.

USTA Florida Board Member and tennis coach, Tracy Almeda-Singian, was involved with two of these recent camps. “I love coaching kids and volunteering at these empowerment camps,” she said. “I’ve been telling them to enjoy the moment and appreciate the opportunities that tennis provides.”

In addition to skill-building drills, participants enjoyed fun, interactive games designed to encourage teamwork and boost confidence. The supportive environment allowed girls to feel comfortable stepping out of their comfort zones, improving not only their technique but also their mindset as competitive athletes.

The success of these All-Girls Tennis Camps highlights USTA Florida’s ongoing commitment to growing the game in inclusive and impactful ways. As the organization celebrates Women’s History Month, it looks to continually provide young girls with meaningful opportunities to connect, learn, and grow on and off the tennis courts.
