Winners were Broward County (Midtown Athletic Club, Weston), Duval County (Florida Yacht Club, Jacksonville), Miami-Dade South (Doral Park, Doral), Orange County (Ft. Gatlin Rec. The winning teams next advance to represent the USTA Florida Section at the USTA League National Championships this fall. The 18 & Over 3.5 championships will be held on Oct. 6-8 at the Surprise Tennis and Racquet Complex in Surprise, Ariz. “We are so excited to be the 2.5 champions and we look forward to representing Florida and our wonderful tennis club, The Florida Yacht Club, at nationals in October,” said team captain Deb Taylor. “Thanks USTA Florida for running a phenomenal event, it ran so smoothly and we enjoyed being a part of sectionals. We were also impressed by our opponents’ sportsmanship and camaraderie and we were thrilled by the genuine enthusiasm and support shown by all.”
Broward County maintained its lead in the 2017 USTA Florida League Championship Cup standings, while Duval County moved into sole possession of second place (see standings below). The USTA Florida League Championship Cup is awarded to the county with the most league sectionals titles during the 2017 season.
