Broward Tennis Blog: Another One for the USTA Florida League Championship Cup!

Adult Leagues Adult Tennis News

By Maria Miro, USTA Florida local league coordinator

As USTA Florida local league coordinators, we work with lots of different people across our regions. We promote leagues, we persuade people to become USTA League captains, and we are persistent in supporting and assisting facilities to reach their own goals.

We are the person that is available at any time to a captain that is in need. They ask questions and we find the answers. It’s a friendship, a working relationship, and a mentorship. It works! And I’m proud of the fact that it does.

USTA League captains are the backbone of our job, and the text message that comes through when they win a championship is the most rewarding. They share their excitement with us as coordinators. They want us to feel their achievement and it becomes contagious.

After the completion of the final USTA Florida League Sectionals last weekend at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, our captains and players have now won the USTA Florida League Championship Cup for two years in a row, and they won’t be stopped. They love the excitement of reaching another goal. They text me with, “Another one for the cup!”

Now we party. In March we will celebrate the 2017 win, and we will compete in 2018 for what we’re now calling the “Broward Cup” once again.

Our Broward captains and players inspire us all.
