Annual Evert Pro-Celebrity Tennis Event Announced for Nov. 3-5

General News Charity Event

International Tennis Hall of Famer Chris Evert will host her 28th annual Chris Evert/Raymond James Pro-Celebrity Tennis Classic the weekend of Nov. 3-5, 2017, joined by a lineup of sports and entertainment celebrities, many who return annually to help support the cause.

Her efforts began in 1989 following her retirement from professional tennis and have raised more than $23 million to date, including $700,000 in 2016. The charity event will continue to be held at the Delray Beach Tennis Center and the Boca Raton Resort & Club, and includes a Pro-Am, a Pro-Celebrity Gala with dinner, dancing and live and silent auctions, and two days of pro-celebrity tennis.

“When I meet the people who are benefiting from our work, it gives me the drive to continue,” Evert said. “Drug abuse tears apart families and is a national epidemic that is right here in our community. We want to continue to assist those who are continually left behind in the wake of this ongoing tragic issue.”

The monies that are annually raised by Chris Evert Charities are distributed to programs funded through the Ounce of Prevention Fund of Florida and the Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County. Evert also funds an annual scholarship as part of the Pro-Celebrity event, and more than 40 women to date have been able to receive financial help to attend college.
