6 Different Winners at 2016 USTA Florida 65 & Over League Championships
Alachua County (Jonesville Tennis Center, Gainesville), Collier County (Pelican Marsh, Naples), Indian River County (North River Shores Tennis Club, Stuart), Lee/Charlotte counties (Park Meadow Tennis Club, Ft. Myers), Duval/Nassau counties (Amelia National, Fernandina Beach), and Polk County (Lake Wales Country Club) were crowned Florida Sectional champions over the weekend at the 2016 USTA Florida Adult 65 & Over Sectional League Championships, held April 8-10 at the Florida Tennis Center in Daytona Beach..
The Lee/Charlotte counties 7.0 men extended their winning streak to three straight years in the Men’s 7.0 Division, while the Duval/Nassau counties 6.0 women saw a four-year winning streak broken when they were defeated in their division final by the Collier County (Naples) women.
Indian River County made it two straight titles in the Women’s 7.0 Division, winning three consecutive super-tiebreakers in the final to defeat Hillsborough County (Valrico) 3-0.

Final: Duval/Nassau counties (Amelia National, Fernandina Beach) finished ahead of Pinellas County (City of Clearwater) in round robin play (both teams tied 2-1, Nassau wins via sets lost tiebreaker)

The NTRP (National Tennis Rating Program) scale for doubles progresses from 6.0 to 8.0 combined levels of play for the USTA Florida Adult 65 & Over League Championships. For more information on NTRP levels go to www.usta.com/Adult-Tennis/USTA-League/Information/About_NTRP.
Local league champions in women’s 6.0-8.0 and men’s 7.0-8.0 NTRP divisions advanced to the Florida Sectionals tournament where they played three doubles lines per team per match, competing in a non-elimination round-robin format. The winner of each flight/division was determined by team matches won. The winners of division with multiple flights advanced into a single-elimination semifinal followed by the final.
