The 2017 U.S. men’s 55 & over and women’s 60 & over teams

Four Florida players are in Ulm, Germany this week competing for the U.S. on teams at the 2018 International Tennis Federation (ITF) Seniors World Team Championships, among more than 120 athletes from 34 countries.

Mary Dailey (Delray Beach) is on the Maureen Connolly Cup women’s 55 & over team, Jenny Klitch (Palm Beach Gardens) is on the Maria Esther Bueno Cup women’s 50 & over team, Stuart Saiki (Orlando) is on the Austria Cup men’s 55 & over team, and Mark Vines (Naples) is on the Von Cramm Cup men’s 60 & over team.

Saiki was on last year’s U.S. Austria Cup men’s 55 & over team that won the championship held in Miami.

The tournament is the senior tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup competitions, with top American tennis players representing their country in the 50-, 55- and 60-and-over age groups.

The U.S. also entered the event as the defending four-time champion of the Alice Marble Cup (women’s 60 & over).

Following the ITF Seniors World Team Championships, the World Individual Championships will be held Aug. 18-25.
