2026 FHSAA Tennis State Championship Preview

Junior Tournaments Youth Tennis News

Tennis season across Florida has been building to this moment. The 2026 Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) Tennis State Championships kick off Monday, April 27 and run through Friday, May 1, bringing together the best high school players in the state for a week of championship-level competition.

After months of grueling dual matches, district battles and regional showdowns, the field is set. Teams and individuals from every classification have earned their way here, and now it all comes down to who can perform when it matters most. With the brackets locked in, the countdown is on for what promises to be one of the most competitive state championships in recent memory.

Storylines in 4A

Class 4A is once again shaping up to be a battleground, with familiar programs back in the mix and a handful of contenders looking to rewrite the story from a year ago.

On the boys’ side, Lake Nona returns as the defending state champion after edging Doral Academy in a thrilling 4-3 final that came down to the last point of a 10-point tiebreaker on the top line. Now, the Lions are back to defend their crown, but Doral Academy will have plenty to say about that.

The former champs are on a revenge tour and have their eyes locked on reclaiming the title they held just two years ago. Don’t sleep on George Steinbrenner either, a program that made the Final 8 last year and brings the depth and big-match experience needed to make another deep run.

For the girls, Miami Palmetto is back after claiming their second state title in three years, capping off a thrilling top-line tiebreaker win over Lake Nona. Lake Nona returns as well, hungry to flip the script after coming up just short in 2025.

George Steinbrenner, Spruce Creek, and Cypress Bay round out the list, of many teams, to watch, both loaded with talent and ready to make their mark in a bracket that promises drama from the opening round to the final ball.

Storylines in 3A

Class 3A continues to be one of the most unpredictable brackets in the state, with new champions crowned on both sides last year and plenty of contenders ready to keep the momentum going.

On the boys’ side, Osceola enters as the defending champion after a marathon final against Chiles in 2025, where they secured the title in a third-set Line 3 battle. The Kowboys will look to prove last year was no fluke, but the field isn’t making it easy.

St. Thomas Aquinas, a powerhouse who finished as runners-up two years ago, is back and motivated. Chiles returns with a chip on its shoulder after falling in the 2025 final, and both Wiregrass Ranch and Jensen Beach bring the depth and experience to make a run at the top spot.

For the girls, Nease returns as the reigning state champion after a dominant championship run that ended St. Thomas Aquinas’ bid for a four-peat. The Panthers now face the challenge of defending their crown, and the road won’t be easy.

St. Thomas Aquinas is back and hungry to reclaim the dynasty that defined recent years in 3A. Jensen Beach, who pulled off the upset over STA in the 2025 semifinals, is also in the mix and playing with belief. Cypress Creek rounds out the contenders as a team capable of making noise and shaking up the bracket.

Storylines in 2A

The 2A draws are once again loaded with storylines, headlined by a program chasing history and a championship that already has a new face guaranteed on the girls’ side.

On the boys’ side, American Heritage Delray enters as the three-time defending state champion, and the Stallions are eyeing an unprecedented four-peat in 2A. Their dominance has been hard to match, but this year’s field looks primed to test them like never before. Lake Highland Prep and Bolles, two programs that have been knocking on the door, are both ready to challenge for the top spot and try to dethrone the kings of 2A.

For the girls, the 2A bracket will crown a new champion this year, as defending champs American Heritage Plantation were eliminated in regional play, falling to American Heritage Delray. That opens the door wide for a group of talented contenders. American Heritage Delray, who returns to the state tournament with renewed hopes, leads the charge.

Gulliver Prep, a team that made the Final 4 last year, brings the postseason experience to make a deep run. Barron Collier, who came up just short in the 2025 final after a six-hour marathon, is back and motivated to finish the job this time around. Bolles rounds out the list of teams capable of making this bracket one of the most competitive of the week.

Storylines in 1A

In 1A, the narratives are as rich as ever, with a young dynasty looking to build on its foundation and the longtime powerhouse hoping to reclaim the throne.

On the boys’ side, True North Academy returns as the defending state champion after ending Saint Andrew’s five-year title reign in a thrilling 2025 final. They made history last year, and now they’ll try to prove it was the start of something bigger. Saint Andrew’s, of course, isn’t going anywhere. The program that set the standard in 1A for half a decade is back and determined to reclaim its place at the top.

Trinity Prep also enters the tournament as a team to watch, bringing the depth and experience to challenge anyone in the bracket.

For the girls, True North Academy is chasing a four-peat after rolling through the 2025 bracket and winning their third straight team title. Their consistency has been remarkable, but the challengers are ready.

Saint Andrew’s, a program with deep roots in 1A success, is back in the mix and looking to reset the balance of power. Benjamin, who fell in a hard-fought semifinal a year ago, returns with a full roster of talent. Episcopal rounds out the group of contenders looking to make some noise in what should be another week of unforgettable 1A tennis.
