USTA Florida to Present Assessment Report and Management Proposal for Southern Recreation Center in Palm Coast

Press Release General News

AUGUST 20, 2025, ORLANDO, FLA. – USTA Florida is pleased to share that it will be presenting to the City of Palm Coast its full assessment report and a proposal for managing tennis and pickleball services at the Southern Recreation Center on August 26th (View all presented documents here). The assessment was prepared in partnership with the community and originally submitted to the city commission in May, as part of USTA Florida’s $695,000 investment made in 2024 to expand the Recreation Center.

“Our advisory team of experts has spent a lot of time listening to the community and evaluating what was currently being offered.  We have never wavered from our commitment to providing the best possible information and service to the residents of Palm Coast, and we are excited for everyone to see the work that has been done and the possibilities for expanding service in the future,” said Laura Bowen, executive director of USTA Florida.

USTA Florida prepared the assessment report and proposal at no cost by leveraging its own Tennis Management Advisory Team, which includes five best-in-class directors of racquets at public facilities across the state. The report includes survey results, sample programming, financial analysis, and clear recommendations.  USTA Florida encourages members of the community to attend the commission meeting on August 26th and contact the city to share support for expanded programs and services in a way that saves tax-payer dollars by partnering with the non-profit.

USTA Florida has long demonstrated its commitment to supporting public parks and recreational services in all communities. Through facility grants, program support and expertise, the organization has worked with numerous municipalities to enhance their public spaces and deliver tennis and pickleball at best-in-class racquet facilities.

“This report is a direct result of the feedback and input we received from the local Palm Coast community.  It provides the city with a road map for enhanced programming and shows what an incredible asset the Southern Recreation Center is to Palm Coast,” said Chuck Gill, USTA Florida President and Director of The Village of Wellington Tennis Center.
