USTA Florida Hosts Second Tournament Directors & Officials Workshop, SwingVision ELC Demo, & More

General News

The Racquet Club of Cocoa Beach hosted a hands-on Tournament Director Workshop and Electronic Line Calling (ELC) demo, bringing together Officials, Tournament Directors, and USTA Florida Staff for two full days of learning, collaboration, and hands on experience.

The workshop began Thursday morning with a welcome and registration session, followed by presentations on the tournament application process and pre-tournament desk operations. Attendees spent the afternoon diving into topics such as officials’ roles, draw creation, scheduling, and communications.

Friday’s sessions covered facility and tournament operations, financial impact, regulations, grievance management, and best practices. A highlight of the day was the SwingVision ELC demo, where attendees saw the technology in action and learned how it can enhance match accuracy and player experience. The day ended with a discussion on lessons learned and Saturday’s tournament schedule.

Saturday featured live tournament operations, giving attendees a chance to apply what they learned in a real-time setting. Participants observed how tournament directors manage logistics, player check-ins, and match flow under varying conditions, including weather delays.

This workshop was part of USTA Florida’s ongoing effort to support tournament directors and officials with practical training and exposure to new tools. The SwingVision demo showcased how technology is being integrated into junior tournaments, helping improve fairness and transparency.

The event also reinforced USTA Florida’s commitment to growing the game through education, innovation, and community engagement. By equipping tournament leaders with the right skills and resources, the organization continues to raise the standard of play and event management across the state.

Missed out on the workshop? Don’t worry, USTA Florida will be hosting these events throughout the year at varying locations across the state. For more information for any new and existing Tournament Directors and Officials, visit ustaflorida.com/tournament-directors.
