Marion County’s Marianne Marcoux named USTA Florida Tennis Volunteer of the Month

For more than a decade, Marianne Marcoux has been a driving force behind tennis in Ocala. She Volunteers as the Director of Communications and Junior Coordinator for the Ocala Tennis Association (OTA), bringing energy, creativity, and leadership to every project she touches. 

For over 10 years, Marianna has been volunteering with the OTA to build a better tennis community for all. Recently, she’s been coordinating OTA’s youth wheelchair and adaptive tennis program, which includes clinics and a workshop. She’s also recruiting new board members, planning a Halloween social for adult players, and organizing another Titans of Tennis Junior Tournament. 

Earlier this year, she helped run the annual Wimbledon Whites event, hosted a farewell celebration for a beloved teaching pro with over 120 attendees, and led a Junior Jamboree for local high school teams. As Communications Director, she also manages board meeting minutes and leads monthly meetings. 

Off the court, Marianne is just as active. She volunteers with the Friends of Silver Springs State Park, patrolling the Silver River by kayak. 

“I like to volunteer in tennis because while I certainly enjoyed winning matches with my various partners, leagues, and teams over the years, these days I most appreciate seeing kids enjoy the game for the first time,” she said. “I volunteer with the Ocala Tennis Association to promote and introduce tennis to groups like the Big Brothers Big Sisters organizations, the Boys and Girls Clubs, our young wheelchair athletes, and high school tennis players.” 

Her peers say it best. “Marianne has led and been involved with the Ocala Tennis Association, for many years. She consistently donates her time to numerous events, both junior and adult,” they said, “Marianne has helped it to become a very active and well-rounded CTA, and she is a great supporter of USTA Florida.” 

USTA Florida congratulates Marianne Marcoux for being named the August Volunteer of the Month. Her dedication, leadership, and love for the game continues to make a lasting impact in Ocala and beyond.
