Grow the Game: USTA Micro-Grants Now Open to Support Love to Programs Across Florida

General News Adult Tennis News

Looking to introduce more adults to the game of tennis in your community? USTA Micro-Grant applications are now open as of March 2, giving providers across Florida the chance to start, run, or grow a Love To program.

USTA Florida’s Love To initiative is dedicated to welcoming new players onto the court, and whether you’re building something from scratch or looking to expand an existing program, this is your opportunity to make it happen.

The Micro-Grants, ranging from $2,500 to $10,000 per organization, are designed specifically for providers looking to build or expand Love To Learn, Love To Play, and Love To Roll programs, USTA Florida’s adult beginner tennis initiatives that are helping bring new players to the sport across the country. Funding can be used for equipment packages such as racquets, balls, and portable nets, coaching staff to lead Love To sessions, marketing and outreach to recruit new participants, and court access including facility rentals and venue setup costs.

Applications must be for Love To programs in order to be considered. But unlike traditional grant programs, these Micro-Grants come with looser restrictions on who can apply. Applicants do not have to be a nonprofit, school, or parks and recreation facility. Any facility or provider is eligible, as long as the program is open to the public. The one requirement is that applicants must be a USTA Organizational Member, which is free.

There are several categories of Organizational Membership, and providers who work out of various facilities will need to have an LLC or similar entity to become a member, and registering as a Service Organization is likely the best route. Visit this link for FAQs on membership categories.

The urgency on these applications cannot be overstated. Micro-Grants are handled on a first-come, first-served basis, and USTA Florida is one of 17 sections nationwide for the $1 million pool. Last year, the entire fund was depleted in just 18 days. That means the strongest providers need to be ready to apply right away to secure their funding.

USTA Florida is looking for strong, invested providers who are committed to running Love To programs the way they are intended, creating welcoming, accessible entry points for adults who are new to the sport.
