Gerard Carean & Eva Evdokimova Win 2025 Bobby Curtis Green Ball Championships

Bobby Curtis Junior State Championships Youth Tennis News

USTA Florida hosted its prestigious event with the 2025 Bobby Curtis Green Ball Championship at Lake Cane Tennis Center on October 25 and 26. More than 50 of the top juniors in the 10 & Under division competed in a weekend of high-level tennis, with many matches going down to the wire.

Players used green balls, which are slightly decompressed compared to standard yellow balls. This format is designed to match the skill level of 10-year-olds while keeping play competitive. Matches followed a short-set format, with players needing just four games to win a set. If tied after two sets, the match was decided by a 7-point tiebreaker.

In the Boys’ division, Gerard Carean took his opening match in an intense three-set thriller, where he won the tiebreaker by just two points. He would ride this momentum as he took down many more tough opponents before facing off against Vitorio Ziade, who had also beaten top competitors. It was a battle in the finals, but Gerard played some great tennis to become the Green Ball Champion. In the third place match, Preston Carean took down Cyrus Allain 4-1, 4-1.

Over in the Girls’ draw, Maidson Rivera was playing some great tennis as she was taking down her opponents left and right. Madison would edge out a close 4-3, 4-2 semifinals to secure her spot in the championship. She would match up against Eva Evdokimova, the second seed who also looked dominant. Eva knocked off Jade Hoffman in a close 4-3, 4-3 semifinals. The finals were dominated by Eva as she jumped out early and took down Madison 4-1, 4-0 to become the champion. In the third place match, Jade Hoffman defeated Savannah Gedeus in a 4-2, 4-0 match.

The Bobby Curtis Championship continues to highlight Florida’s rising talent, promoting growth, sportsmanship, and a strong foundation for future success.
