Four Teams Thrive at Adult 18 & Over 2.5/3.5/4.5/5.0 Sectional Championships

Competition was heating up as the Adult 18 & Over 2.5/3.5/4.5/5.0 Sectional Championships took center stage at the USTA National Campus.  

With bids to the USTA Adult League National Championships on the line, teams were giving it their all as they battled the heat and rain that Florida brought.  

As the four divisions battled it out, Broward County had a great showing, winning two of the divisions, while taking second place in another. Rounding out the other two divisions, were Escambia and Orange County. 

As champions at this event, these teams will compete in the USTA Adult League National Championships in October. 

Adult 18 & Over Results: 

Women’s 2.5 

Championship: Broward County (Midtown Athletic Club) defeated Miami-Dade County (Ron Ehmann Tennis Center) 2-1 

No. 1 Singles: Alicia Lopez (Miami) d. Asel Kamilova 6-2, 6-0 

No. 1 Doubles: Kelly Leong Poi/Vanessa Silva (Broward) d. Pamela Petry Martinez/Laura Curi 6-7, 6-0, 1-0

Final Result: Orange County (Interlachen Country Club) finished in first place of the round robin with a record of 3-1. Broward County (Lauderdale Tennis Club) finished in second place with a record of 2-2.
