General News Pro Tennis

From the clay of Paris to the grass of London, Florida’s tennis stars are ready to take center stage at Wimbledon 2025

As the tennis world turns its attention across the pond, USTA Florida proudly spotlights a dynamic group of homegrown professionals ready to make their mark at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships. With a blend of Grand Slam champions, rising stars, and elite doubles specialists, Florida’s presence at the third major of the year is as strong as ever.

Coco Gauff leads the charge as one of the tournament’s top contenders. The Delray Beach native continues to build on her meteoric rise. Coming off a Roland Garros title, Gauff is looking to translate her success on the clay courts to the grass. The current World No. 2 seeks her third singles Grand Slam in her young career and looks to break into the quarterfinals for the first time at The Championships.

Amanda Anisimova is back in top form after a brief hiatus in 2023 to focus on her mental health. The 2019 French Open semifinalist is looking to go on a nice run on the grass courts of London. Her powerful baseline game and renewed mindset make her a dangerous draw.

Sofia Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion, is another Florida player with Grand Slam pedigree. After battling injuries in recent seasons, Kenin has shown flashes of her former brilliance and remains a threat on any surface.

Danielle Collins continues her extended farewell tour after initially announcing that 2024 would be her final season. The fiery competitor and 2022 Australian Open finalist is still chasing her first major title and is hoping to do so on the famous grass courts.

In doubles, Nicole Melichar-Martinez and Austin Krajicek bring elite experience to the grass. Melichar-Martinez is a former Wimbledon champion in mixed doubles and a consistent force on the WTA doubles circuit. Krajicek, a former world No. 1 in doubles and 2023 French Open champion, is looking to find that success he found two years ago again on the biggest stage.

On the men’s side, Ben Shelton continues to electrify fans with his booming serve and fearless play. The young star reached the semifinals of the 2023 US Open and is eyeing his first Grand Slam title. With a game well-suited for grass, Shelton could be one of the breakout stars of the tournament.

Reilly Opelka, returning from injury in 2025, is back in the mix and already making headlines in 2025 with a win over Novak Djokovic earlier this year. The 6’11” Palm Coast native is a former Wimbledon fourth-rounder and remains one of the most dangerous servers on tour.

With this dynamic group of Florida athletes ready to compete on tennis’ most prestigious stage, USTA Florida fans have plenty of reasons to cheer. Whether it’s singles or doubles, veterans or rising stars, the Sunshine State is well represented at Wimbledon .
