General News Pro Tennis

The 2026 Miami Open is right around the corner, and USTA Florida athletes are once again ready to compete on one of the sport’s biggest stages. The prestigious WTA 1000 and ATP Masters 1000 event Main Draw runs March 18 through 29 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, and the Sunshine State will be well represented by a talented group of homegrown stars.

Leading the way on the women’s side is Coco Gauff, who continues to cement her place among the best players in the world. The Delray Beach product brings Grand Slam championship experience and an electric game that always energizes the South Florida crowd.

Amanda Anisimova enters Miami riding a wave of momentum after a breakout 2025 that saw her reach back-to-back Grand Slam finals at Wimbledon and the US Open. The Florida resident has continued her rise in 2026, climbing as high as world No. 3 and capturing two WTA 1000 titles. She will be one to watch as she looks to add another trophy to her growing collection.

Sofia Kenin, the 2020 Australian Open champion, rounds out the Florida women’s singles contingent. The Pembroke Pines native brings experience and competitive fire to every match and will look to make her presence felt on the hard courts of Miami Gardens. The Veteran and 2017 US Open Champion Sloane Stephens returns to the Miami Open through a wildcard, bringing a wealth of experience to the draw.

On the men’s side, Ben Shelton continues to establish himself as one of the most dynamic players on the ATP Tour. The former University of Florida standout has one of the biggest serves in the game and a fearless playing style that makes him a threat in any draw. Sebastian Korda arrives in Miami with momentum after capturing the 2026 Delray Beach Open title in dominant fashion, while Reilly Opelka’s powerful serve makes him one of the toughest matchups on hard courts.

Adding to the Florida lineup are two exciting young wildcards. Martin Damm, the Bradenton native and son of former ATP doubles star Martin Damm Sr.. He enters the Miami Open main draw after reaching his first ATP semifinal earlier this year in Montpellier. The other wildcard is Darwin Blanch, born in Boca Raton, he returns to a tournament that holds special meaning as the site of his ATP Tour debut in 2024.

Florida will also be represented in doubles competition by Austin Krajicek and Nicole Melichar-Martinez, two of the top American doubles specialists. Krajicek, a former world No. 1, Grand Slam champion, and 2024 Olympic silver medalist, recently captured the doubles title at the Delray Beach Open. Melichar-Martinez, a Bradenton resident and Wimbledon mixed doubles champion, brings 18 WTA doubles titles and a wealth of experience to the Miami draw.

The 2026 Miami Open promises exciting moments as USTA Florida athletes showcase their talent on one of the biggest stages in tennis. With a balance of youth, experience, and competitive fire, Florida’s representatives are ready to shine at one of the premier events on the global tennis calendar. Make sure to follow USTA Florida on Instagram to keep up with the Florida players!
